Kahuna Massage
Kahuna - also called Lomi Lomi - a Hawaiian style massage, which embodies pure relaxation! It involves flowing strokes using the elbows, forearms and hands to stimulate the flow of energy throughout the body and synchronises the breath with the heartbeat.
This style of massage also uses oils applied with long strokes that can extend over the entire length of the body, almost like wave motions going up and down the entire body!
For that reason, nothing should be in the way, except a well draped sarong (clients need to be comfortable with taking their clothes off to experience a full kahuna session).
What is Kahuna - the origin
In Hawaiian culture a Kahuna is referred to as a specialist in a field of expertise, similar to “PhD” or "MD" in English.
Kahunas are commonly thought of as shamans or healers.
Directly translated the term means “keeper of hidden knowledge".
In North America, it is known as a big wave, which origin comes from the Hawaiian surfing culture.
It is no surprise that most Kahuna clients describe the Kahuna massage style like a continuous wave washing over them, moving in fluid motions up and down, and all around their bodies, over and under on repeat.
